Intercessory Prayer 2

Through those years, and up to now we still see wrong attitudes in people. Those attitudes have gotten worse; they have crept into many ministeries...and they still call it "intercessory prayer."

Is that what it's all about? NO! Don't get me wrong, I believe in prayer and intercessory prayer. I believe however, that it's been misapplied. I believe it's potentially one of the most dangerous ministries in the church today. Many churches have actually divided and split over this thing called "intercessory prayer."

Most intercessors "Prayer Warriors" you might meet are prideful people. They think they've grabbed hold of God and that they are the ones making the church work! They actually believe they are the ones keeping everything in line! And some people in those churches believe it as well. This is not a good thing to think!

Those intercessors my sound humble and say something similar : "Oh we're nothing. It's all the Lord," but at the same time they're thinking, "WE are the ones who literally grabbed hold of God and made Him do these things through our intercessor."

But intercession cannot make God do anything. We don't need to change our perceived ideas about God's mind. God is for us not against us. So, it's not a change of mind we need to intercede about. It's true, we do not need to motivate God. We don't need to beg, bawl and plead with God! The New Testament shows a completely different way regarding intercession.

New Testament Intercession

The New Testament prayer warrior (intercessor) does not, or rather should not fight with God. He or she, is not wrestling with the Lord Almighty to encourage Him to intervene. No one care more for us than Him. But what the intercessor should be doing is just simply put faith in God's grace; which is something sometimes hard for many to do and act on.

The (NT) New Testament intercessor say something like, "Father, thank you! I know You've already pourd out Your Spirit. The promise is unto us and unto our children, and unto them that are a far off, even as many as you our God shall call (Ref. Acts 2:39). But Lord, satan and his people, religion, traditions- they are binding people today...! Father God, people's eyes are not open to the truth. I break the power of this blindness in Jesus name!"

The NT intercessor does not have to ask God for ANYTHING. He or she is searching the mind of God and commanding the devil to back off and let God's will come to pass! The intercessor is binding the demonic spirits and the actions of those that have obeyed not the truth, and releasing people in bondage.

And ya know, it's actually awesome....exciting to go in and execute the judgment of God, the judgement that God has already sent upon the devil and then praise God for it. Hallelujah!!!! Praise is a powerful form of intercession (Ref. Mt. 21:16 with Ps. 8:2).
