In HIM 2
Hebrews 4:14
"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession."
The same Greek Word translated "profession" is translated in other places in the King James Version as "confession." It says "...let us hold fast our PROFESSION. What is our profession/confession? What is it that we are to "holf fast" to? It is the CONFESSION of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ- the confession of our faith in God our Heavenly Father- the confession of our faith in God's Word.
Most Christians, though they may be sincere, are weak. Why? Because they never really understood or even dared to "confess" what God's Word says about them. Most have just treated Christianity as a religion instead of a relalationship. It's really sad but most have never confessed what the Bible says they are- that they are who the Bible says they are- and, that they have what the Bible says they have. No; I'm not portraying that "name-it-and-claim-it" religious speaking, but what the Bible says about us just does not register in people's minds and it should.
Some Christians, listening to the world, other ministers even themselves are maintaining and holding fast to a wrong confession (speaking) instead of holding fast to a right (believing) confession. A wrong confession (speech) is a confession of defeat, of failure and of allowing satan into your life to wreak all sorts of havoc. People are always talking about what a time they're having with the devil- what a serious battle they are having- or what they are going through, or how the devil is keeping them from success in an area- keeping them sick; basically "holding" them in bondage. THIS IS WRONG CONFESSION!
As long as you talk and believe like that, according to what Jesus, the Son of God said, that IS, what you're going to have. I know people wouldn't do it if they really knew what they were doing, but that kind of confession (speaking) is a declaration that they either don't believe God's Word and or don't understand it. Your defeat is not from God. When you talk about defeat, or even about things in a negative way, you are talking about the works of the devil and giving them dominance in your life. God did not intend that you or the rest of the Church should ever be defeated. He said that even the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church (ref. Matt. 16:18).
Your Faith Demands Expression and a Testimony
Testimony? Yes, it's a part of the faith life. If you want to develop a strong faith- then continually tell people what the Lord is doing for you. The more you talk about it, the more real He becomes to you and gives others encouragment to believe too. The less you talk about the Lord before others, you can end up drifting away and you'll end up depriving others of that most needed encouragment and blessing.
Faith is like love, it is a part of the heart, the spirit. And, like love, it lives and finds its joy in continual "confession" of it. In the natural realm, the more a husband and wife confess their love for each other, the more it grows. Our words have power in them.
If you will notice carefully the life of Jesus, you'll find that from the very beginning of His public ministry until He was led to the cross, He was always "confessing" WHO HE IS....WHAT HE IS....AND HIS MISSION ON THIS PLANET.
For instance, He said, "I am come forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father" (ref. John 16:28). So are we! (See John 15:19 ). Anyway, but in this confession of Jesus, this was a four-fold confession. It covers His life from birth to Ascension.
One of the boldest confessions Jesus made was, "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" (Ref. John 14:9). Man! Now that is a bold statement. And you can imagine how people (jews) received Him comparing Himself with God as being one and the same. So, basically, If you want to see the Father/God; look at HIm!
In John 12 it is recorded that He said, "....he that seeth Me seeth Him that sent Me." I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness" (vs. 45-46).
